Our father prospered during the depression. Life insurance was one of the few investments people trusted. He was also promoted to manager of the Atlanta agency of The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York.
As a result of his success, in 1934 he and mother bought a much larger house at 7 (later changed to 87) West Wesley Road in the northeast part of Atlanta known as Buckhead. The price they paid was $20,000. This was the house I grew up in.
